Is Operation Hope Medical Missions a recognized non-profit organization?
Yes! Operation Hope Medical Missions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. That means that any donation that you make is tax deductible. No one in the organization makes a profit and all board members are volunteers.
Is Operation Hope Medical Missions a Christian organization?
Yes, Operation Hope Medical Missions is a Christian organization, though we have no denomination affiliation or support. We consider evangelism an important part of our mission and call.
If I donate, where does my donation go?
100% of your donation goes to surgical supplies, medications, and direct mission support. OHMM has no paid positions and team members are responsible for their own transportation, food, and lodging cost.
I want to volunteer, what are my first steps?
We are a surgical mission group, so if you work in or around the OR, we may have an opportunity to serve with you. We ask that you read our interest guide you can find here. If you are still interested you can fill out our interest form found here.
I want to volunteer, but I am not medical, or have no surgical experience, can I still serve?
At this time, we have a limited amount of team members that can go on each trip. Due to that we are not currently recruiting any non medical team members.
Do you require the COVID vaccine to volunteer?
We follow CDC and country specific guidelines for vaccines. At this time the COVID vaccine is not required to volunteer in Honduras.
How much does it cost to volunteer?
Anticipate total personal cost of $1,700 to $2,000. This is variable and dependent mostly on flight costs.
How long is each mission trip?
Each trip is a week long and runs from Saturday to Saturday. There is an optional post-mission trip that is an additional 3 days.
